Provence has a rich historical heritage. Once you find yourself in charming tiny villages, often located on the tops of hills, you will feel as if you will plunge into the past centuries – so well they have preserved their appearance and medieval spirit. As you travel through the cities of Provence, such as Arles, Orange, Nimes, Avignon, Aix-en-Provence, you will see ancient Roman buildings, UNESCO - listed palaces, museums and Gothic cathedrals.
If you are planning to go to France, then I recommend you rent Villa Provence
Provence is necessarily the oldest port in France – Marseille, considered the capital of the region. It is the most populous city and a major port, which is called the "Gate of the East". Marseille is inhabited by people from all continents, and all of them have contributed to the palette of this multi-ethnic city with its unique culture and attractions. Like any port city, Marseille is famous for its fish market, which offers a huge variety of fish, fresh oysters and other seafood.
Provence in France inspired such great impressionist artists as Cezanne, Gauguin and Van Gogh. Cezanne was born in Aix-en-Provence and throughout his life he sang of his native city and its surroundings on his canvases. And in 1503, the famous fortune teller Nostradamus was born in the town of Saint Remy de Provence. Here he spent his early years, and then moved to the nearby town of Salon de Provence, where his house-museum is now open.
In addition to beautiful, picturesque landscapes and historical monuments, there are also national parks in the region, such as the Camargue, a biosphere reserve at the mouth of the Rhone River with a rich flora and fauna. Here, in its natural habitat, you can meet pink flamingos, stunning white horses and black bulls, which are highly prized in neighboring Spain.
